Nothing says comfort food like a warm, gooey chocolate brownie. Rich, moist and chocolatey, they are the perfect treat to indulge in after a long day. Here’s a delicious and easy chocolate brownie recipe that you can make in the comfort of your own home.
Ingredients
- 150 grams dark chocolate
- 150 grams butter
- 3 large eggs
- 250 grams caster sugar
- 90 grams plain flour
- 25 grams cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
To begin, preheat your oven to 180°C/ 350°F/ gas mark 4. Grease and line a 20x20cm square baking tin with parchment paper. This will ensure your brownies come out of the tin easily.
In a bowl, melt together the butter and chocolate until smooth. This can be done either in the microwave, stirring every 30 seconds, or in a bowl over a pan of simmering water.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs and caster sugar until the mixture doubles in size and the colour becomes lighter. This usually takes about 5 minutes.
Carefully fold the melted chocolate and butter into the egg mixture, followed by the plain flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and a pinch of salt.
Mix until everything is combined and no flour lumps remain. Pour the batter into the prepared tin and spread out evenly.
Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes. To test if the brownies are done, insert a skewer into the centre. If it comes out clean, your brownies are ready. Leave to cool completely in the tin.
Once cooled, carefully lift the brownie out of the tin using the parchment paper. Cut into 16 equal pieces and enjoy!
